Energy Masters Courses at Department of Engineering

This photo was of the Dissertation Conference in 2020  All had to be online and there was no opportunity for a proper course photo

Fatin Padzli is now working at Jacobs as a Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) Engineer.  She is also working on expanding her skills in Safety Case, having completed AV2 and EC4 (EDF-specific training to author and verify safety cases), as well as taking on a dual role (management and technical) in the Sizewell B Long-Term Operation (LTO) project as a Safety Case Strategy workstream manager and a co-author of the hazards review report for LTO. As a PSA, I'm grateful that I had experience using SAPHIRE (PSA related software) whilst on the MPhil course as this gave me a taste of how it works.

An exciting project I'm currently involved in is Phase 1 Sizewell B Long-Term Operation (LTO) project: Jacobs are collaborating with GE, Westinghouse and EDF to develop and deliver a robust LTO programme that enables safe and reliable Nuclear Generation post 2035. (Essentially, EDF would like to extend the life of SZB until 2055). This project relates closely to my dissertation at Cambridge "The Economic Feasibility Analysis of AGR Life Extension in the UK" - very useful research experience to prepare me to work in real-life projects. "My long-term plan is to become a Chartered engineer in the next few years, but this is a work in progress as I still have a lot to learn!" said Fatin.
