Energy Masters Courses at Department of Engineering

Attending the Annual Review of Nuclear Policy, Regulation and Markets, hosted by Herbert Smith Freehills, was an excellent opportunity to see the current state of Nuclear Policy in the UK. The speakers were very knowledgeable on their subjects, talking on such points that included cybersecurity in nuclear power stations toindustrial scale fusion. Moreover, providing thought-provoking answers to the questions proposed. What I found most interesting was the discussion on the current state of the Nuclear Sector Deal in regards to Brexit negotiations. Furthermore what the UK must take into consideration when moving into the future such as the possibility of joining up of the nuclear industry in the UK and keep an eye on the stability of the supply chain.  In attendance, there was a mixture of lawyers and industry members.

In conclusion, this trip gave an invaluable insight into nuclear policy and the present position of the nuclear industry.  The Nuclear Energy MPhil students were grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a Forum.
